Taking your new animal home:
PICK UP INFO: (Some suggestions for bringing your new addition home)While we take a check or money order for deposits, we do require cash for any balances due at the time of pickup unless otherwise arranged prior to pick up date. Please be sure to bring a carrier, box or other type of restraint for you new animal as we are not able to provide something suitable for every animal.
Starting 5/15/2021 we will be implementing the requirement that all buyers must confirm they have read and agree to our sales policy. The sales contract can be viewed and the form can be filled out by clicking on the "Sales Contract" button. The sales policy found on the Sales Contract page will supersede any information put forth on this page.
Sales Policy, Guarantees, etc
GENERAL SALES POLICY INFO: We are willing to take a non-refundable deposit on any animal we have for sale. We require deposits of approximately 50% of the sales price, but this can be negotiable so don't be afraid to ask.
Deposits must be received within 4 business days of verbal agreement (unless otherwise noted below) or animal will remain up for sale. Timely replies to emails and phone calls are of the utmost importance to secure the purchase of one of our animals. Sometimes supplying us with your phone number as a means of contact if you have limited internet helps keep the lines of communication open.
We will accept a check or money order for your deposit, but cash only at time of pickup. We prefer not to use PayPal or other on-line payment methods at this time. Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE unless otherwise stated below. Checks or money orders can be made out to Cornerstone Acres Farm or Alina Wilson and be mailed to 6022 S. 25 Road, Boon, MI 49618.
We reserve the right to cancel any sale for any reason. If we choose to cancel a sale, we will refund ALL deposit money paid (including dehorning or castration fees if applicable).
Although demand for our stock has been high, at this time we will not be taking deposits for most animals before they are born (puppies are the only exception to this). If there is a pairing you are interested in, please keep a close eye on our website and our Facebook page as we are usually pretty quick to get news out about any new births. We also have a waiting list for just about all our animals.....just let us know and we can put you on the list.
The only exception to the "pre-deposit" policy will be our Great Pyrenees pups. We will take a pre-deposit of $30 to reserve up to four males and four females. A pre-deposit will be non-refundable UNLESS there are not enough puppies of your preferred gender born OR in the case that puppies are not born at all. A pre-deposit will lock you into current pricing (in case we choose to raise prices) as well as guarantee you the gender of your choice (as long as enough pups are born). It will also lock you into your place in line to choose the puppy of your preferred gender. Since generally our litters have more than 8 puppies, we will still take names and contact information for additional pups. We also may not receive deposits for all 8 "pre-deposit" places so being on the list might even afford you first choice in some cases. Please contact us for more information or clarification on our terms.
GOATS: Goat kids will be allowed to leave around 10-12 weeks of age, so unless otherwise specifically stated please plan on having the goat picked up around that time. We will generally allow a two week window for you to arrange pick up of your goat (pick up by 12 weeks of age) but this MUST be pre-arranged. All goat kids will have at least their first CD&T shot and be wormed before leaving the farm UNLESS they are sold for slaughter. We do NOT routinely give the CD&T shot or antibiotics or chemical wormers to our own animals, If you prefer your animal NOT to have any vaccinations or other shots please let us know. Also, all necessary tags and/or tattoos will be taken care of. If for some reason you would like or need your goat disbudded (this excludes market goats for 4H), we must receive a deposit (half of purchase price plus $15 for disbudding) by the time the goat is one week of age. $15.00 of this deposit is not refundable in any situation. Money received will be refundable ONLY in the case of death of the chosen animal (except in the case of a disbudded kid - $15 is totally non-refundable). If receiving a 4-H discounted goat, it WILL be wethered and disbudded (please let us know if disbudding isn't required) before leaving Cornerstone Acres (dehorning fees included in market wether pricing). All goats will leave with a scrapie tag identifying our premises. If you are 4Her we will apply the tag if needed, if the animal is a registered (therefore tattooed) animal we will allow you the choice to either take the tag loose or have us attach it. Dehorning fees are included with any goat advertised as a wether or any of our fainting goats. Disbudding any other goat is $15.
Goat kids that are eligible for registration will come with a REGISTRATION APPLICATION upon pickup. If you have any issues during the registration process, feel free to contact us. Wethers will usually not come with registration application, so please double check with us if that is something you require.
PIGS: Piglets will be allowed to leave around 8-12 weeks of age. At this time we are not routinely castrating all piglets, but can do so if a deposit is received before 1 week of age. We will be heavily evaluating our pigs so many may be castrated. Also, being raised outdoors we have opted to not give iron shots to our pigs. To date, our pigs receive NO vaccinations and that includes both our breeding stock and our piglets.
Piglets that are eligible for registration will be registered before leaving the farm and you will have paperwork in hand. Since how fast the DNA is completed or how fast the registrations come back is out of our hands, we may hold onto a piglet just a bit longer than 12 weeks if necessary until paperwork is complete.
SHEEP: Having just started sheep, we will be working on our sales policy for sheep. At this time we will basically follow the policy in place for goats. We are not routinely docking tails, but are doing some. If you need the tail of your sheep to remain UNDOCKED please let us know as soon as possible. Jacob sheep are a wonderful horned breed and we will NOT dehorn/disbud our sheep. Our Jacob sheep lambs will leave the farm with an application for registration. Currently we are still learning so much with our sheep, that we can not guarantee that all animals will pass the inspection process, especially young rams since fleece samples at 6 months of age are what the inspectors use. However I will do my best to speak with other more experienced shepherds for their opinions on whether a lamb looks to be eligible (this does NOT guarantee eligibility). I will also be sure to point out any flaws that may hinder registration.
RABBITS: Rabbits will be allowed to leave around 6-8 weeks of age. We will not hold rabbits unless paid in full. Payments on rabbits are NON-REFUNDABLE. If a paid for rabbit dies or is injured before being picked up, we reserve the right to offer you a rabbit of equal or greater value as replacement of the same gender. Payments on rabbits may be transferable to other rabbits in the rabbitry at buyers choice, however this option will be judged on a case by case basis.
DOGS: Under no circumstances will a puppy leave before 7 weeks of age. It is also generally important that LGD puppies leave no later than 12 weeks, to allow bonding to their new flock or herd. We do generally do not allow owners to pick a puppy until 7 weeks of age. New owners will be allowed to put a deposit down, thereby ensuring the gender of your choice and locking you into a place in line. For instance if you were first on the waiting list for a male you will be first contacted if a male is born. You will have 4 days to provide a deposit to secure your place in line to be first to choose. If there are four people on the list for males and only three males are born we will contact the first three on the list, but if anybody declines to purchase or fails to remit their deposit, the fourth person in line will be contacted.....and so forth and so on. ALL deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE unless in the unfortunate case a puppy (or puppies) die and there is no longer a puppy for you to choose from in the litter. If you are last to choose a puppy from your chosen gender and decline that remaining puppy, 70% of your deposit will be refunded. If a deposit of less than 50% of the purchase price is made, we will retain an amount equal to the minimum required deposit (50% of purchase price) and refund whatever the balance is back to you. This applies ONLY to the person who is last to choose.
Dogs will have any up-to-date puppy vaccinations at time of pick-up (shot schedule is usually a set of three shots beginning at 7 weeks and ending at around 16 weeks). We usually do the first shots right around the pickup date. If you are buying an older puppy, he/she will be up to date on required shots. If you do NOT want your dog to have these shots please let us know when you send your deposit. Herbal worming will take place at 2-3-4-5-6-7 weeks of age.
Dogs are NOT registered.
CHICKENS: Chicks and chickens are ready anytime once we have listed them for sale. They will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
ADDITIONAL GENERAL SALES POLICY INFO: If you are unable to arrange pick up of your animal within the time periods stated above (or any other time frame agreed upon at the time of deposit) you may forfeit all monies paid to Cornerstone Acres and the animal may be relisted for sale, or you may be charged a minimum daily boarding fee of $4. If boarding fees accumulate in excess of a deposit made on an animal, that animal will automatically be re-listed for sale and all deposit monies will be lost. We will try and be as reasonable and fair as possible in all situations, please be sure to keep the lines of communication open.
At this time we do not ship any animals. Pick up from our farm only. If a buyer wants to set up for ground transport from our farm with a licensed hauler, that can be done if buyer takes care of the hauling costs. A CVI can be obtained for any animal, and is to be paid for by the BUYER. Veterinary inspection pricing will depend on the species to be shipped and if any additional vaccinations or shipping items (like crates or halters) will be required. We do some traveling from time to time and may be able to offer personal delivery (usually for a fee) if we are heading in your direction. If you express interest in an animal and we know we will be traveling your way at the right time, we will be sure to let you know of that option. There is a flat loading fee of $25 for any livestock deliveries. We do also charge a minimum of .70 cents per loaded mile to meet off the farm. (Pricing per mile subject to change without notice due to changing gas prices.)
We have a sort of "No-show/No-call" policy. Our time is no less valuable than your own, so like you we try to manage our time as effectively as we can. If you choose to schedule a time to come look at one of our animals please be polite and try to show up as close to "on-time" as you can. If you are unable to keep your appointment (or will be excessively late), please call, text or email to let us know. If you do not show up and fail to call or email we reserve the right to decline to offer you a second showing.
RETURNS/REFUNDS/REPLACEMENTS: Have a problem with an animal purchased from us? We will take any issues you have with our animals seriously. As we can not guarantee what care, feed, stressors or diseases an animal may be exposed to once it leaves our farm we generally make it policy to not cover most illnesses, parasite issues or injuries. We will, as a general rule, not refund or replace an animal due to sickness or death after they leave our farm. Nor will we pay any incurred vet bills. But PLEASE allow us the chance to make the decision if we will or will not be able to help you by contacting us and letting us decide on a case by case basis.
If there are genetic issues that would be a different matter. Please feel free to contact us if you ever have questions or issues and we can see what we can do. Keep in mind we may require that you obtain an exam or testing by a veterinarian (at your cost) to determine an actual diagnosis of the condition.
Any animal that may be eligible for a replacement or refund may have to be returned to our farm (alive or dead as the case warrants) at our discretion. Be aware that, due to biosecurity issues, we may not allow an animal back on the farm (pigs, sheep and goats). The exception to this rule is our dogs, they are always welcomed back to the farm, this however does not imply a money back or replacement guarantee. When looking to rehome a dog with us, we may need up to 7 days to make proper accommodations for housing the dog. We reserve the right to euthanize any returned dog if we deem it necessary. We also reserve the right to NOT take a dog back. If a dog is a proven bite risk, we may ask owners to either seek professional training help, professional placement help or to euthanize said dog.
SHOW AND BREEDING GUARANTEES: Goats $100 or less will not be guaranteed as breeding stock. Pigs $100 or under will not be guaranteed as breeding stock. Rabbits $20 or less will not be guaranteed as breeding stock. If you have breeding soundness issues with stock that was sold at breeding stock prices, please contact us.
Since we do not encourage dog breeding, we do not guarantee any of our sold puppies for breeding soundness. We do however want to try and work with buyers of our dogs to make sure their temperament is working out in their designated line of work (pet, farm or LGD). We are here to help and would like to help buyers to work through any problems or issues. We do ask that you as the puppy/dog owner will do their best to avoid potential issues and this may include working with a professional trainer.
There are NO show guarantees. We do not show our animals and will not guarantee any show results or show quality of our animals. We will also not guarantee that animals are free from DQ, although if we know of anything we will point it out. Starting in 2019 we are now offering a reward/incentive for those who do well showing stock bred on our farm. We will offer a farm credit for anyone receiving a Grand Champion or Grand Reserve Champion win with any of our stock in any fair or show class.
$25 credit for winning rabbits
$30 credit for winning goats
$40 credit for winning pigs
$25 credit for winning dogs
$35 credit for winning sheep
If you are showing in a breed sanctioned class (not a 4H or local fair) we will increase the credits as follows.
$50 credit for winning goats
$75 credit for winning pigs
$50 credit for winning sheep
Credit good for any item(s) sold on the farm. Good for 2 years after issuance of credit. Proof of win will be required. Acceptance of credit does allow Cornerstone Acres Farm to use your winning photos on our farm page. (Kids faces can be covered in photo and names can be withheld at buyers request.)
Credit offered only ONCE per animal.
REHOMING: If at any time you need to rehome any animal purchased from Cornerstone Acres Farm due to reasons other than animal illness/defect, please let us know and we may be able to network to find a new home for your animal(s). In the case of our Great Pyrenees dogs we request that you let us know before ever taking the option of sending them to a shelter or rescue as we are almost always willing to take any dogs back here to the farm.

General Pricing Information
Barter Information
BARTER: We are almost always willing to barter items. If you have something that we may need or can use, let us know!! Do you have livestock, livestock supplies, fencing, plants, tools, household items, homemade items, etc that you are interested in trading for something we have (willing to barter anything we have for sale including CSA shares).....just let us know!! Got a service to barter, let us know! Are you a expert chicken plucker or perhaps a master pooper scooper?
Keep in mind we prefer to keep the monetary value fair and equal for both parties.
For example: If you have a pony to trade that would normally sell for around $500 we would either trade for an animal we are listing for around $500 or we would be willing to pay cash along with providing an animal listed at a lower price.
If however you have used equipment available (depending on exactly WHAT it is) we normally would give the item a value a bit less than new pricing.
For example: If you have a used gate available that would retail for $100, we probably wouldn't give you $100 in trade value unless it was in perfect condition.
Here is a list of a few items that we are currently in search of, listed in no particular order. If you have something not on the list that you think we might want, still feel free to contact us.
I will try and keep this "wanted" list updated the best I can.
